On October 20, our collaborator Martin Rubio from the University of the Republic (Uruguay) presented at the <a href="https://pm4s-ws.github.io/workshop/" target="_blank" style="color:#0994DC;>Workshop Process Minning 4 Sustainability (PM4S), as part of the 7th International Conference on Process Mining, the article entitled: “Enabling Sustainability-Aware Process Mining: A Systematic Approach for Measurement and Registration of Sustainability Data.”
This paper proposes a systematic approach to include and record sustainability data in business processes, allowing for its analysis through Process Mining. The proposal includes specific measures with their formulas, an extension of the XES standard, and a measurement taxonomy. Together with a library, a sustainability calculator, and an analysis dashboard, the approach allows for the evaluation of indicators such as energy, emissions, and materials, facilitating evidence-based analysis and promoting more sustainable business processes.
Our international collaborator Andrea Delgado, Martín's thesis advisor, and our colleague Félix García participated in the work. The work is the result of Martín's doctoral stay with the Alarcos Group in May 2025.
