25th June 2025
On 5 and 6 and 16 and 17 June, our colleagues Félix O. García and Carlos Pulido gave the first two editions of the course ‘Importance of Software Sustainability’ at the Regional Administration School in Toledo.
The course was attended by employees of the IT services of the JCCM. Throughout the training, which lasted 12 hours in each edition, the fundamentals of sustainability and its dimensions were addressed, as well as its application in the context of Software Engineering.
Special emphasis was also placed on the environmental impact that software can have, for which the ways of assessing the energy consumption of software were explained, and how to do this in a rigorous and systematic way, using appropriate tools, was addressed.
This knowledge was put into practice with the realisation of several lab cases illustrating how to make better decisions throughout the software lifecycle to develop more energy efficient applications. We thank the Digital Transformation Agency for incorporating this pioneering training programme to promote Software Sustainability and Green Software Engineering.
From the Green Team of Grupo Alarcos we continue to support training in software sustainability, more details in here.
