Quantum computing software solutions, technologies, evaluation and limitations: A Systematic Mapping Study

Our colleagues Elena Desdentado, Coral Calero, Mª Ángeles Moraga and Félix García have published the article ‘Quantum computing software solutions, technologies, evaluation and limitations: A Systematic Mapping Study’, in the journal Computing for the Special Issue ‘Pivoting Quantum Computing Using Software Engineering Best Practices’.
The article presents a systematic mapping of the literature, selecting those papers that directly apply quantum computing to solve real problems or to propose specific improvements to existing quantum algorithms. For the selected articles, the objectives, the quantum technologies employed, the development environments used, the criteria with which the results are evaluated and the verification or validation strategies that are being applied in practice are analysed.

The article also dedicates a section to explore the most common limitations in the literature and the challenges posed by the work analysed.
